Calcutta 400 and 400B

Any difference in the pawl cap screw on these two reels other than what they are made of?  Reason i ask is, i switched the plastic pawl cap from a 400 with a metal cap from a 400B.  When i snugged it down, the pinion tightened up some and the reel would not wind as smooth.  Any suggestions?  Thanks
