restrictions on member registration

sorry, guys.  we seem to have attracted a new group of spammers.  these guys are russian and the come in on a mail.ru server.  they are much more aggressive than the chinese spammers that have been coming in on ubiquity servers.  for the time being, i have restricted new member applications.  people that want to join up now can no longer activate their own accounts.  i will have to go in and manually approve each one.  it may be a couple of days.  when it looks like these guys have picked up their toys and gone away to play in another sandbox, i will change it back.  Сволочи !!!!!!!

had 40 of these idiots try to log in this morning.  i deleted the all in one fell swoop.  there was only one guy that looked legit.  so, people, if you get caught up in this and you are not a russian spammer, please send me an e-mail and i can activate your account manually.  alan
