I was wondering if these reels can switch from left hand to right hand and whats the procedure for doing so. Thanks.

Hi Brandon --

Yes...

A 550 can be set up for left side or right side crank.

No additional parts are needed --

Just install the connecting block on the opposite side of the oscillating slide -- install the handle bearing assembly on the opposite side -- and that is about all.

Because the A/R ball lever has (3) positions -- forward, reverse, and neutral -- all that is needed is to flip the lever to the opposite position.

It is a little tricky and tight to assemble the reel for right hand retrieve -- but just connect the oscillating slider, attach the "C" clip to the main gear -- while the crank assembly is outside of the reel -- then after the connections are secure -- just rotate it back inside -- snug up the 3 long screws -- and you are done.
