Aloha AT Ohana,
Here's another oldschool newell kitted Penn build I got around to finishing. This one's a 113h with a Broadbill extension kit, I believe it's 1/4" wider than a 113hlw. Randy helped me get a pair of the very early 1st Gen maroon plates with outside access drags. The asbestos washers have been swapped to HT100 5 stack and delrin undergear washer. To round off the period correct theme I installed 4:1 newell ss gears and a penn power handle.

Thanks,
Kyle

Another great build of a classic reel Kyle, those plates Randy hooked you up with look unused.

It can't be too difficult - a lot of people do it.

There's nothing wrong with a few "F's" on your record....Food, Fun, Flowers, Fishing, Friends, and Fun....to name just a few !

Alto Mare

Beautiful reel, Kyle...great job!

Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

I'm starting to become a fan of yours!  ;)  That is stunning.  The plates are the most amazing thing though.  I definitely wouldn't double dog a set like that.  What else you got?  ;D
Another day in Paradise!

Your builds always look great. How do you get those side plates to look so good? Are you buffing with rubbing compound?

Bill B

It may not be very productive,
but it's sure going to be interesting!

Thanks for appreciating my work! I use a microfiber cloth and burnishing cream and just elbow grease till they're shiny. A polishing wheel would probably do better if u have one.

Love those earliest first run 113H side plates.....Theses are the only 113H plates with a fishing vessel on the tail plate. These earliest plates also have trim rings screw holes that are not countersunk into the plates and finding one as nice as this is nearly impossible. Another home run by Kyle !! Looking forward to what you dream up next !!

Another pair of Home runs by Randy too!

Thanks Ted! Yeah I was looking into the different 113H plates and saw a beat up example that got me interested. I messaged Randy pretty excited, asking if he had a set in stock. It's funny that I started out being really focused on how I could push modding my reels till there was hardly anything stock Penn left. But things have come around full circle where I'm interested in trying to create builds with a period-correct appearance (often containing our modern goodies inside).
