Have this Long Beach 67 that I'm cleaning up for a guy at work. The problem that I'm having is "1" did they make these in a left hand model? Because this one only seems to reel correctly if the handle is on the left side. That's the only way the the anti reverse dog seems to work. "2" was there a coiled  spring for the dog or a flat spring? No coiled spring or flat spring came out when I took it apart. Seemed to be working off of  I guess gravity. Is there a tutorial or something I could look at? Didn't seem to see one anywhere. Thanks

I think early ones had a leaf spring & then they went to a coil spring. If it was working before you took it apart the spring was in there. They sometimes stick to the bridge when disassembling the reel. It could have been wiped off & might be stuck in a rag or whatever. It's difficult to know which type spring you have without photos or having the plate in hand. Instructions for any Longbeach should be similar enough to see how to assemble it. And yes they made left hand ones but are less common.    Rudy

Thanks for the info. Would the free spool lever on a left hand reel be in front of the crank handle? The one I have is in front of the free spool lever, while if it was a right handed reel it would be behind the crank handle.

Yes, because the right plate is used on the left side on a lefty reel. The main difference in parts of a lefty reel is the gear sleeve, & main & pinion gears are different. The angle & pitch of the teeth are opposite.
