Was there a East German equivalent of DAM? I would think that East Germans liked to fish too.(don'T ask where this question came from. Outer space, I guess )

Ha! Good one. Kind of drifting off reels momentarily, but the East Germans took the Ruskie Makarov and turned it into a very smooth operating pistol. Can't take the German out of a German. Wondered if they did something similar with reels.
