So I was given a model BSM-1551B to tinker with. I'd like to service it,,but...when I got the frame separated from the "cage"? I call it a cage, because the guts are trapped behind a shiny metal plate..and I'm not sure of how to get inside..I've never been inside a baitcaster from 1988.
So,,anyone familiar with these?

There should be two screws on the handle side plate, remove them along with the handle & drag star.

Have you removed the LHS side plate yet?  I would be thinking that the spool will come out the LHS and there would be screws on the inside of the RHS frame that are hidden by the spool.  Otherwise I would be looking down those holes in the frame for hidden screws. Photos of LHS?
cheers

Specialist Daiwa reel service, including Magseal, MQ series body plates, and every other "improvement" that Daiwa Marketing (sorry... I meant Engineering) Dept comes up with!
