Had the opportunity to go through 4 Production Andros 5 reels.

The Andros has a right side tilt sensitivity on free spool. If you spin the spool and tilt to the right side down the spool drags and quickly comes to a stop like you have engaged the spool cast control.

Investigation uncovered 2 things:

1) There is .025" of spool play (spool can shift side to side .025")
2) The Drag tension knob assembly over powers the pressure plate return spring making the free spool detente in the cam ineffective.

These 2 things do not adversely affect the performance of the Andros as long as you end your cast with the reel level or left side down. This is OK for most right handers. The lefties may have a bit of an issue.

How to eliminate the tilt sensitivity:

1) Sleeve the spool to remove the spool play. Sleeve is 9/32" x .842"
You will need to remove the 2 inside 'c' clips on the shaft.

2) Separate the 2 halves of the drag tension knob and remove the large spring inside.

Reassemble and your good to go

Tried to down load pic but there is no room in the down load folder.
