I bought this reel at the flea market today(It's hard for me to walk away from a 5000 if I've got money in my pocket). However I've never seen one like this before. Can anyone help?

Irish Jigger

Beautiful piece of Swedish engineering.  Over 30 different models of the Ambassadeur 5000,schematics available if you can identify the model number.

Hi. It looks like an old 5000B model. 3.8-1 tranny, a couple of hard 'phenolic' drag washers, with a 1st generation snooze alarm.  This drawing should work.  WHATEVER you do, do NOT pull the yoke spring out of that square keeper by the push button !!!!  (5119-4056) If you do, you will rue the day, and fight with it for a ~very~ long time.

I'd also click on the tutorial by KF23, over in the Abu section..the last sticky one on page one.... it's a 6000B, a lot like yours. Ask him how he liked that spring thing.  ;D ;D

Thanks very much for the very fast response. Your info is just what Mikes Reel Repair told me and provided with the schematic. Now onto clean up and new drag washers. What a great forum. Thank you again. ;D

Hi again..hopefully, the frame is not loose and racked. If you grasp on each side, and gently twist like you were wringing out a cloth, the frame should not budge or rattle. Over time, they can loosen up.
I have special tooling that re-tightens all the connections.  Jerry Foran over at hookless.com gave me the idea, and my goto guy made them up for me. Jerry builds custom Abus out of FL state. Nice fellow.
