I found this site looking for information on my 2 black side 113s. I know my father bought them in the mid or late sixties.
I need to tear them down and clean/service them.

a stainless steel gear sleeve and a jigmaster 24-56 power handle are really helpful here.  you can also change out the drag stack from 3 inside the main gear, to 5.  still, the reel has a very disappointingly low power-to-weight ratio.  let me know if you need help with parts.   :-\
send me an email at alantani@yahoo.com for questions!

Thanks Alan. Sent you an email. 1st thing is buying your HD wrench. Then I need to pick up grease & oil.

Just thought to add, I have a old 40GLS, too.
