I was actually about to ask you about the Spotted as table fare, in your other post...

of course, Stripers are great, Smallies are damn good, but LMB are nothing special (mushy, IMO) -- how do Spots compare?

Very firm just like the stripers. Spots and stripers are by far the best. Anything over 3 pounds on the spots I release because the meat gets mushy like the largemouth and the catfish are normally good up to about 20 or so pounds. I'm not a die hard catch and release guy but I've also ate enough to know what's worth keeping and what needs to go back.
