Hello folks,  What are some the causes for the reel to not engage the gears quickly after free spool.  Seems like when I turn the handle there is too much hesitation before engaging.  Thanks much

Odds are you have a bit of crude -- likely salt and corrosion if you fish saltwater -- under the main gear or free spool mechanism. If you remove the right side plate it may be obvious. In the meantime, a few drops of oil where the free spool bar enters the right side plate may improve things.
