i took a ocean city reel apart but now i can seem to put back the eccentric spring all the pics that i seen on the net all show the spring going into a littile hole on the jack but the jack i have have dont have that pin hole i need help puting the spring back

Hello cito, welcome! I'm not sure on which pictures you've been looking at, but the eccentric spring doesn't go into the jack. Here is a larger image, maybe it will help....I'm sure that Ocean City reels are similar to Penn. Sal

Nice pics. I'm wondering if the eccentric has a hole on the side , or maybe it's not round in shape at the bottom. Have you tried different ways? From the looks of the picture, it doesn't appear to be  that hard  to put back :-\.
Someone had a schematic for these reels , but I can't remember who.

just a thought, can you flip the sping over?  it kinda look's like if you flip it over it will sit on the post and the short side will sit on the edge of the side plate. not sure how the other side will work tho. just an observation i have never been a reel like your's. good luck

Kamu, I think that he has that spring positioned just right. If you take a closer look , it appears that the staight side of the pring as a little bend to go into that little hole. I'm betting that the eccentric has a bump or a hole :-\

Try putting the spring in place like you're showing it. Put the little bend in the hole, move the eccentric lever to the opposite position and with a screwdriver or needle nose pliers force the other end of the spring by the grove at the side that it is closer to the little hole.
You might have to place the longer side of the spring against the eccentric first and then put the shorter end in the little hole. Move the eccentric lever to see which position works best for you.

I've got a schematic for a 112/113, but it shows the other kind of dog spring, like a 320 gti.

Yes seaeagle2, now I remember. I wonder why Alan didn't place it by the schematic section.

thanks for the info but if i band the spring sence the short side of the spring pass the small hole on top of the plate then the spring wont flush with the plate i will post pics to show you the spring in place and how it fall off

Alto Mare

Sorry, I believe that I didn't explaine myself. I didn't want you to bend the spring, all I said was for you to place the long side of the spring next to the eccentric, on the opposite side that you're showing . With needle nose pliers grab the shorter end and place it in the little hole, while holding the spring in place with your thumb. From the looks of it, I think that it will work.

Alto sounds like he has it.  Without having one of these reels in hand I'm guessing the long bent part of the spring sets on flat spots under the cam.  The spring is not a return spring, it just holds tension on the cam.
