I'm working on a John Baker 4 reel and when I disassembled the reel, I found that the drag washers were held in place with this double stick tape and rubber cement totaling 1 mm thick. I replaced it with a custom cut carbonated washer 1 mm thick by 1-3/4" OD, 1" ID and will be epoxied in place. There are two of these washers on either end of the pressure plate.
:D I talk with every part I send out and each reel I repair so that they perform at the top of their game. :D

Thats interesting Bryan! I've always wanted to see what a Baker reel looks like, could you please post some pictures of the reel after
  you service the reel?

             Thanks Jim

Here it all cleaned up. I'll take a few more pics as I put it together.

Spent over 3 hours cleaning it up and reassembling. Over 5 hours so far. I decided to take a break.

Interesting, I have never seen a silver JB reel. I have only seen the gold ones.

Which shifter does it have, the twisting one or the newer/upgraded button?
