Has anyone heard of their spools cracking on Lexa 400s

I and another friend had our spools crack.. neither reel has caught anything significant to cause this issue. Fortunately for him, he had not been long buying his and the retailer just gave him a new reel and took the previous one back for Credit from Daiwa. I do not have that luxury.. mine is out of warranty but I feel deeply that there was no reason for the spool to crack. Daiwa wants $63 and shipping for a new one.. I personally think it's a manufacturer flaw for this to happen. What other recourse do I have to not have to pay for a new one.

See photo below just under my thumb

I would call Daiwa directly. This is not normal.
You know that moment when your steak is on the grill and you can already feel your mouth watering.
Do vegans feel the same when mowing the lawn?

Gfish

An aluminum spool cracked? Yeah, that ain't normal. I've seen cracked plastic and one steel Penn spool cracked length-wise. Must be a manufacturing defect of some kind.
Fishing tackle is an art form and all fish caught on the right tackle are"Gfish"!

I had a Luna 300, spool had a spot of corrosion on it. I mentioned it on the website of The Florida Sportsman in the Daiwa section which was frequented by a Daiwa rep. He sent me a new spool, no warranty needed. Don't know if he's still goes on there, this was a few years ago, take a look.

Especially not with braid.

I only have 100yds of 15# braid on the bottom.. The rest of the time it's either 12# or 17# ProSpec, or Sufix Tritanium.
