Diawa Seagate 20h drag problem?

Hi-serviced a Diawa seagate about 2 months ago, my buddy told me that he can't put any pressure on the reel? he tightens the drag as much as he can but still has issues? He will be bringing the reel for me to look at tomorrow. I asked him if his braided line was backed with mono or tape because it sounds like a case of ghost drag, if anyone has any input on this mystery I'm all ears!! thx

Did you replace drag washers?  If so, add another because it sounds like the drag stack is not high/thick enough. A new drag stack will compress some when it is first buttoned down.

I did not replace the drag washers on the reel, they looked to be in good shape.
