My brilliant 3rd grader son just got a nearly perfect score on his math and reading standardized tests so I wanted to do something special after the award ceremony they had at his school. So I checked him out and we went kayak fishing. He's only been out on his kayak twice and this was the first time fishing from it. We could have just gone kayaking, the fishing report would have been the same. But he was a lot more interested in the yak than the rod, and it was his day.
