Snagged a real nice condition ambassadeur 4600c3 and a 90's 3600 black max,.....plus a Nippon cardinal C4 for 40 total recently.

Highway robbery. The Max's were sweet. I have a 6600 Promax I bought close out for half price at $100 in 1995. The finish on the Pro isn't durable, but still it was $200 35 years ago...

One Abu handle, star and cast control knob will set you $40 now...

Just pick up a Daiwa SM-2A never used with box and all paper and part , this reel is same reel as my first bait casting reel

Ha that was also my first baitcaster (bought used from a buddy in 1996, I was 11) and I have one coming in the mail tomorrow. I still use these for bass (albeit with upgraded drags, bearings, and polished internals) and the incoming reel will probably be spare parts.

Pinion gear was the Achilles heel on these, and they were impossible to find for years.  Maybe 3 years ago a batch of them showed up on eBay and I got a few. They weren't cheap or I'd have gotten more. Supposedly the worn ones can be repaired with silver solder, but I haven't tried that yet.

Very sweet! We had a guy on here, Captain Lou from Connecticut, that made some great swimmers and also acrylic reel knobs. I got three of the last few plugs he built. We don't see those much down here. Atoms and Striper Swipers are still around, but I'd say Cordell poppers are most popular along with Redfins. I also use Williamsons and there is a guy I see at the fishing expo every Jan that handcrafts plugs; I always buy a couple. On occasion, I have to go throw a redfin on my favorite 9' honey Lami with 406 for nostalgia. It's spooled with Stren original HI Vis gold, of course.

redfins and the similar Cordell swimmers have gotten me many fish. They swim just right. I get most of my old wood plugs on eBay. Mainly gibbs. Only if it's a deal. They have a huge northeast history. Which I love. My entire fishing life is nostalgia. I love the old lamiglas. I have a bit of a collection of them as well!! 406 is a great reel. I have some Mitchell's mixed into my collection. But it's Mostly Penn.
