Hello, I recently purchased a new Tiagra 50wlrs. When I was about to spool it up when I noticed a rough finish on the drag lever side of the spool. Store I purchased it from says all the reels he has are like that, talked to shimano rep he said he is going to check what he has in the office to see if they are the same. Anyone else seen a finish like this on a tiagra or any reel spool? Am I being unreasonable in wanting a replacement, or should I just use it as I am being told, my concern is potential spool corrosion.

this is not common.  a light coat of grease should protect it enough.  still. it's not something that i would have expected.

Looks like something went wrong in the anodizing process?  Contamination on the spool?

I have to say that the edge of the frame looks a bit rough too. Looks like a 'Friday afternoon' job?

I've been through hundreds of these reels and never say this

It is not normal
