ReelClean

Assuming 5/6000 size: 3x5 if memory serves, but 3xanything reasonable would work without clearance problems.  Anyone confirm?

What is the part number of the shim washer that you're trying to replicate?

Abu Garcia Part# 5189 or 975156 Drive Shaft Shim
i actually cut a piece of beer can into a crude circle and it work. it helped the play on the handle considerably...but i'd like to fix it better...

Technically that washer is made with a slight bend or curl to give it some springiness.  Without this shim, you'll feel slop if you pull on the handle parallel to the driveshaft axis.  Does that make sense?

I had a few of them and checked the dimensions at work...here are my notes: 5189 Driveshaft Shim (ID checked using pin gauges...(4) .159" & (1) .163" or 4.04mm - 4.14mm.  Thickness is .008" - .010" thick when flat, but .015" when in cup shape.  OD is 8mm or .315".  Material is probably brass or copper.  This shim is actually U-shaped or cup-shaped.)

ah I see...thank you

and yes - my handle was indeed pulling which is why i tried troubleshooting it. I think I may have inadvertently recreated the springiness with my homemade hack of the popcan shim. There's not much movement anymore in the handle pull...
