fabric washer cleaning

Hi guys.

I'm going to be servicing a set of shimano speedmaster IV this coming week with the stock drags in them. I'm assuming some of the drags will salvageable through cleaning and applying cals grease. Is it safe to use brake cleaner and an old toothbrush on these washers to get up any grime? Does cals work fine with these type of washers? Here's a picture of the drag assembly i'll be working with

Also there is a black hard washer that looks like it similar to a dartanium drag. Should that one stay dry?

If they are not salvageable they will be replaced with a CF set.
