Hi
What is the drag curve like on a talica 50. I will be running 25lb at strike what will I have at full. Will the drag be all or nothing when I go up towards strike or will it be slowly progressive

Will the brass gears hold up if used for bluefin in the 200-500 range

Thanks all

the smaller talicas are pretty good.  not sure about the talica 50.  i've actually never played with one before.
send me an email at alantani@yahoo.com for questions!

Women's All Tackle world record Swordfish (795lb) was caught on a Talica 50. They will hold up.

EDIT: The stock cam is not progressive at all

What is your meaning of not progressive

( It come on fast )

I should have said it is not linear. It ramps rapidly as you go to Strike.

among the many reels I own I also have a Talica 50. I modified the CAMs with those supplied by Bill Buckland of Fisherman's Center, a amodest expense of 40 dollars

I'm shocked that Shimano has not gone after them to stop the sell of a mondified part like they did with other custom parts like the drag pressure plate for the TN40/50 reels. Buy them while you can.
:D I talk with every part I send out and each reel I repair so that they perform at the top of their game. :D
