I have been trying to get some TGT1643 lower handle bearings from Shimano for quite a while, without success. It seems to be a constant wear item that would be solved by a plastic bushing instead of a bearing.  Has anyone done this and have info on a source?  Thanks.

Do you have the size of the bearings. I may have a plastic bushing to replace the bottom one with.  All of the smaller Shimano reels use 4x7x2.5. With a white plastic bushing for the bottom bearing that always gets wet and corroded

I am looking for is 5X9X3.  I have not had any success finding it on the internet, although I did find bearings that may fit. Shimano has been out for a couple of months. I may wait a bit longer to see it they come through.  Thank you.

How about 9mm nylon rod drilled out?

It would be pretty straight forward to turn a few out of nylon or delrin (acetal) - it's a pretty good bushing material. PM me your name and mailing address if you want to give delrin bushes a try - I don't think I've got any nylon on hand.

It can't be too difficult - a lot of people do it.

I do have the bearings but will check on the bushing

Thanks for the advice and kind offerings.  I have bearings on the way, and thanks to the suggestions I have a friend who is going to machine a few delrin bushings to try. :d

Open sided bearings in these smaller sizes would be nice to allow you to pack them.  I have tried to get the side shields off but I usually end up stuffing the cage  :-\
