I received this reel in a lot in which the reel that I was interested in was high enough in value to purchase the 4 reels. The prize was an ABU 505. 2 reels were just junk. This 923C seems solid and it cleaned up well.
The non-handle side oil cap and spring are missing. Are there any reliable sources for Ocean City parts out there, or does anyone happen to have these parts?
Thank you

Hi Steve —-

Got a small stash of old new Ocean City & True Temper Conventional reel parts.

Matched up a new oil port, off-side spool cap & tension spring with a OC 923.

Will send out to you tomorrow.

Already sent out the Daiwa 500C last Friday.  So this will go by itself.

I have a 922, almost the same. Very solid little conventional. What's the purpose of the fluted spool?

Greg,
My understanding is that is there to let the line dry out more easily. I don't know where I heard that.
