I picked up a mint (never used?) Fin Nor #2.  It is RH retrieve.  Is it possible to switch this reel to LH retrieve?

Here is a post with a schematic that looks like it matches your reel, but in the No 3 size.

My guess is that you will need new parts that are going to be virtually impossible to find.  These reels were sold specifically as right or left hand wind, and looking at the ratchet plate with the cork attached in the schematic, the ratchet will only work in one direction So at a minimum, you would need a new ratchet, maybe dogs, and maybe another part or two.  Just looking at the schematic, flipping the ratchet around and gluing a fresh cork disk to the other side doesn't look like an option.

If you open the reel up and take a look, it should be easy enough to figure out what the options are.

Parts for these reels are virtually impossible to find.  There was somebody on one of the East Cost sites that claimed to have bought out the inventory of old Fin-Nor fly reel parts, but that was quite a few years ago.

Unless you want to fish it for the fun of using old school stuff, it might be better suited for display, especially if it is minty. It is pretty heavy and small diameter by modern standards.

If you do crack it open, let us know what you find and maybe even share a photo or two!

Thank you so much for the schematic and link to other post.  I believe I will leave it as is.  I can reel either way.  I fish with all my vintage reels.  I guess because I am vintage myself.
