Friends:

Has anyone seen an old brass spool for a vintage 9/0, this is the version of the reel that had no ball bearings and was not labeled 115.

All the spools I have ever seen for these reels were the three piece ones that tended to spread.

Now, amazingly, I have come into a chrome plated brass spool that is 9/0 size but the axles are not the same as on the 115 series.

Have I found a unicorn?

Thanks in advance!

Maxed Out

Last year for the 9/0 3-piece spool was 1953. After that all 9/0 had heavy one piece cast bronze spool. 9/0 sideplates had spool bushings up to around 1960, then switched to bearings. The bushing spool won't work on a bearing 9/0, and vice versa.
If you're searching for a bushing type spool, it was only made for 6-7 years(65-70 years ago) and could be hard to find unless you find a good donor reel.
