Thought I'd pop this in as I've just finished refurbishing a Daiwa MM-2000 and there's little info out there on these reels. Cleaned, polished important stuff, and lubed. Grease was so dry it was epoxy-hard and took some near chiseling to remove. The LW was esp bad. Under the spool end cap I replaced an O-ring and added an oiled felt pad. Also replaced the leather drag washer as the original was worn thin.

Loaded with .0095" braid, it casts quite well throwing 5/16oz lures easily, and a 1/8oz sinker (no wind resistance) to 75ft. Has a terribly slow IPT at 16", akin to most of the old direct-drive reels. But it was fun getting it back up to snuff and seeing what that little reel can do.

wow it looks just exactly like an Ambassadeur ;-)
it's a nice size for my fishing and I like slow reels, pity there aren't any ultralight aftermarket spools for these..
