My nephew just found a Heddon 421 reel in the recycle yard where he works...

Reel looks in pretty good shape, except for spool tensioner knob is missing on left side.. Handle is bent with knob being busted.. No big worries there..

It looks a lot like a 309 Penn. in size.. Just wondering if anyone knows much about this reel.??

Maybe I can get one from a Penn or another brand and this reel will be useable after a good cleaning & greasing..

Also where can I find a schematic for it.. ??? Haven't been able to find one anywhere. :(  :(

Thanks a heap. :)  ;)    GOD Bless                     james

Alan, May be someone will have a part, or an idea..

I measured it best I could and come up with these numbers.... Spool shaft size is 3.45 mm/ 0.136 in.

Inside thread size is 6.86 mm...

If I can't find a knob I might sell or trade on some kind of penn reel..

I'll post some pictures if anyone is interested...

Does anyone have a 309 penn ?? And a 421 Heddon ????  If U have, I need a small favor..
Need to know if spool tensioner knob is the same size... will swap out..
Looks to be about the same size reel but 421 is not a level-wind...
Got the handle straighten out, just need a knob to make it like new..

I'll be grateful for any help..

Hello

There is a very nice Heddon 421 on e-bay,with box and papers .
I would look for Ocean City  parts as they manf. for many others.
A casting could be made and miked for size and thread pitch. Brownell`s has a rifle stock/barrel bedding product that should do the job.

Yellow Cat - I have a bunch of nos O.C. parts. Can you post a diameter for where the bearing cap screws in? I may be able to help you out. - Jimmer.
