Hopefully, this will show up here in an AKceptible post?

  11.    https://youtu.be/_rFUE5yj76o?si=ORAZ06Q25wnT5eDt     7 min.   Some footage of Ken trying the Banax 12v. Reel for a short try.   It wasn,t for him,  so we get a halibut for dinner.

   12.        3 min.    Ken gets a small halibut on a jig .  The rain did persist butt we had fun fishing.

   13.    https://youtu.be/PMzzQfpEztk?si=zYzhbQBjBkKDEYqt    7 min.    Fishing halibuts with bait rigs on the Maiko.   Anchored on a slope and expecting some travelers to pass by.
Some fun footage with Ken and his desire to let his go.   Always fun.

    14.    https://youtu.be/LJSRDHENWpY?si=Xt5FPPITgebaWkdF    5 min.   Ken assists in securing a nice fifty pound halibut.   Teamwork makes it easier and speeds up the process og getting the gear down ifs there are more fish ready to strike.   Thanks Ken.

    15.    https://youtu.be/eA27sEKRwwA?si=-G9gTvrlZnyuSsxM    5 min.   Sometimes while fishing there is a scramble to get a video or shutter going when you hand are full,  here might be a case of quick, do something.   I got the footage here and thank Ken for putting the head mount vid camera on my head.  We do what we can do.   Fun was had,  a pretty nice fish would make some shared meals.   Thanks for watching.

    16.    https://youtu.be/LY8uDS-A7Yo?si=dGDmStNVx1TFLiYw    7.2 min.    Halibut fishing on the Maiko up bay a ways,  anchored on a slope on a flood tide.   Ken harpoons my fish and always insists in helping while his bait is soaking.  The jig used here is one of Daves 12 ounce models crafted in a 3d printer.   Today it was just what the fish wanted.   Always fun.

    17.    https://youtu.be/JxjF8W562as?si=JEXzIVZYi5pNquaC    4.4 min.    Here a short clip of a little fun we had during the winter a while ago.  Trolling along the shorelines of coves and small bays can produce a few feeder king salmon that are scattered thru out southeast alaska.
We hook a nice fish and were lucky and happy/hopefull.    The reel shown here is a mooching reel I modified ,  the rod is an alteration of an Okuma Celilo xh.  The plug is the blue chrome verision of the King Kandy.   It was great to have Ken with the net.

    18.    https://youtu.be/LY8uDS-A7Yo?si=AHG5nVpVyddgXs1-    7 min.    The Octopus jig is used again to make a nice sized halibut bite the baited hook.   The boat here is anchored in abot 135 feet and the tide flow is moderate.   Fishing was slow butt getting this one was appreciated.

    19.    https://youtu.be/1B069a0M4qg?si=sHNNQFjznVWc9-XW    15 min.   Some halibut action on Kens boat.   First we both have fish hooked on jigs,  his is deemed a hog and too large for us to handle easily,  so Ken helps me get my fish secure.  Then he goes back to his fish which is just sulking on the bottom.  I try to release it and fail on the attempt so he says "let me do it"
So I crank on it and we get the hook out and he saves his jig as well.   Pretty  fun experience.

    20.    https://youtu.be/IiU1UnG52rE?si=WYna1TcRqSIV0l4r    7.4 min.   Fishing on the Sea Star anchored at slack tide on a calm morning Ken hooks a large halibut on his Kodiak jig.
At first we were going to keep it and decided to release it back to the wild.
after giving some slack and a rest it sounds to the bottom and its lite catching it twice.  Using the harpoon for a gauge try to size it up.   We get the jig back and the fish is free to roam.
it was a hoot to see these large fish and feel their power.   Thanks for watching.

Love it!  #17 Gary the Butt Man is Gary the Salmon Man!  From what little I know mooching reels are pretty simple to begin with, what did you do to modify this one? - john

Thanks for the question,  after fishing these reels it was a desire if mine to enlarge the spool diameter to pick up line faster,  this was a 4inch spool and now its a 5.  This was worth it. more power and speed, then the cork drag was replaced with a carbon fiber disk,  smooth and no more line creep when pulling a diver or downrigger with large flasher.   Ive made 4 variations of this concept.  Latest is a 6 inch spool, direct drive, alum frame, spool.  Untested as we speak.  Keep on fishin........... :fish

You're in a little slice of heaven up there. Thanks for posting your adventures
Do what you can with that you have where you are

It looks like like Ken would fish halibut with any type of jig as long as it was a black Kodiak :)

Those are some great videos.  Feel like I was right there.  Thanks for taking us along.

Thanks for your observations Dave,  Ken tried to turn me on to these jigs that are marketed from Alaska,  I was skeptical at first,  then thought conservatively that I would watch and see??   I have seen, now you can see...... its on recording of film he caught many good fish on these jigs.   Like Henry Ford said years ago "you can have any color model A as long as its black" ......
Thanks for helping me in my jig endeavors and being my friend......
