I've seen posts on other sites by Alan and others and appreciate the knowledge that's freely distributed on the subject of reels. I hope to provide feedback based on my own experiences over time so others can benefit. I mostly surfcast with spinning gear but some of my information may be applicable.

Hi, my name is Lee and I have a fishing gear problem.

I have all of the answers, yup, no, maybe.

Welcome aboard.  Glad to hear I'm not alone. My surfcasting reel is a Daiwa Regal XiA 4000. It gets the job done without "professional overrun." ;D

:D I talk with every part I send out and each reel I repair so that they perform at the top of their game. :D

Welcome from another "part time" coffee grinder
It may not be very productive,
but it's sure going to be interesting!

Welcome MagMinnow,

Rob, I love that phrase "professional overrun", got a quick belly-laugh!  Yeah Mag, this is one of the few places you can get all of the professional overrun that you can digest and then some ::)  If you also enjoy the "tinkering with your tackle" aspect of fishing (especially mechanically pimping-out your reels)..........JACKPOT BABEE!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D
