Hi
Wondering if anyone can help me out with a list of the Calcutta 400 models that have a spool bushing rather than a bearing.

Thanks!

Yes they come with a plastic bushing. You can swap it out for a bearing no problem. They just cheap out to make more profit on the reel.

The RHS spool support bush on the '98 CT400 I think?  I change all of them out to a 5x11x4mm??  bearing.  Can anyone else confirm the size?
Specialist Daiwa reel service, including Magseal, MQ series body plates, and every other "improvement" that Daiwa Marketing (sorry... I meant Engineering) Dept comes up with!

I can't remember the size but I changed mine on my Calcutta 2014. You will need a pin removal tool. Also its good to have spare pins in case you bend one reinstalling it.

I know the bearing to replace the bushing is 5x11x3, although sometimes 5x11x4 works.  I think the 400B comes with a bearing, the 400's do not, but I'm not clear if it's model or year or what that makes the difference if you get a bearing or bushing.

Annoyingly the schematic just lists the spool+shaft+bearing/bushing as a single part because they treat it as non-serviceable. Too many spool shafts get bent by people using inappropriate tools to get the pin out.

Just to muddy the waters - my 400B had a bushing, I don't know what year it was sorry.

Yes they often don't have a part number for that handle side spool bearing on many of the reel models. And now they are changing reel part numbers too.  Just to make it more fun :)
