I bought a game reel that came spooled with fresh hollowcore. The fact it was $500 and had $300 of hollowcore on it definitely influenced my decision to buy it.

Not sure if I would trust braid loaded by a stranger, I guess I would bench test the line before banking on it.

I'd rather see the empty spool, and some of the vintage reels I buy have OLD line on them, held by disintegrating rubber bands. Sometimes the aroma when I unspool it makes me gag. Not overwhelming, but there's a definite smell from old mono especially that was stored in a shed for 25 years.

Ill buy with line but not pay more. If it has line I will un spool it to verify line condition, and if ok ill re spool .... then I know it's done right.

Its like selling your boat with all your fishing gear. The boat will sell for the same price without fishing gear

I've even used the "came with it mono" on  a few, but I always decline 'em to see the spool and line condition.

Like Boon, I bought an International 30 size, advertised with 600 yds, 100lb. hollow-core and a 100yd. Top shot of 100lb. solid braid. Looks like new braid.
Does that sound right? 100yds. solid on top and 600yds. hollow on bottom? I don't know much about big-game line configurations. To be honest I'm kinda having trouble seeing that one is different than the other...hollow vs solid? Also, can't see where the 2 are connected.

Today I got some small Moana(goatfish) for live bait. 2 bites, one prolly a Needlefish, couldn't hook 'em. The other I hooked. It was the biggest kayak fish for me yet. Maybe 30-40lbs., but it was way out there, rough seas, and overcast. Using the modified 501. It bit once, then came back, bit again I pulled it out of his mouth-stupid Needlefish!, but it bit a third time and I hooked it. Fought like the dickens on the surface, couldn't see what it was. Jumped at a 20degree angle 3 times. Football shaped, I thought Ulua (GT), but too hyper, I was set-up to get it in. Gave a show to 2 guys going by on out-rigger canoes. My first Shibi(small Yellowfin)? OH BOY!
So, I was using an in the package 40lb. Wire leader, but it was on the "sale-get rid of it table" when I bought it. Old stuff.
The leader broke in the middle. I would guess no more than 15lbs. of stress was put on it. No sign of abnormal damage at the breaking point.. Maybe a 45 second fight. Couldn't blame this one on the reef. Once again the "goat" instead of the hero, (ala-Charlie Brown).

The point here is that maybe a known quantity/quality, that is new, trusted name brand, is always best.
Fishing tackle is an art form and all fish caught on the right tackle are"Gfish"!

Pretty darn exciting.  What kind of wire was it? Live and learn I guess, but stuff just happens sometimes too.
Today, the wind came back here.  It's been nice for weeks.
