Took my rocket reel out for a spin over the weekend. I do need to practice my casting 😅😅

Jealous. One of these days.
Any machine is a smoke machine if you use it wrong enough.

Yet another one I've never heard of...
Fishing tackle is an art form and all fish caught on the right tackle are"Gfish"!

Oh boy, I absolutely love, the blue rocket reel conversions, they are pretty!
Had a chance at blue and red 6500's, and the price was definitely right! But of course, timing was horrible as usual, and they were gone reely fast! Friggin mono mag on these RR's are extremely touchy too lol.
Is that Sakuma line you have on there?

Worst part is, they don't even have 6500 cages in blue in stock anymore!
Hopefully they keep manufacturing them, but wouldn't surprise me a bit, if they stop producing them, the way things are going these days!
Haven't been able to get out on the field, at all, to cast mine this year!
No braid for me on that reel, no way lol!
Plus, I don't use it for fishing, it's strictly long-distance field casting.
I would learn how to cast that with mono, then switch back to the braid.
Definitely lightning fast if you don't keep an eye on the mag for sure lol.

I'm taking your advice.  Gonna find some mono 😇😇
Gonna fish with it though,  on sunny days 😁😁

Does that protruding tail-plate knob interfere with your left hand holding the reel?

When I taught myself to flycast, I realized it was about baby steps first, short casts, until I could get a good feel for the mechanics and timing.
Maybe kinda like golf. First focus on hitting the ball squarely for short distances.
More'n 20 minutes practice at once was a waste of time for me.

Seeing how you like hi-vis, I would go with some Berkley big game solar collector, Sakuma night crystal, or suffix titanium plus In 12-15 pound test. Guess it also depends on what year targeting with it as well?
I also really like Momoi Hi-Catch in 16 pound too, it's very strong for its small diameter. Can't forget original Stren either lol. You'll be amazed, just how much easier this reel is to cast with mono.

Thanks for the advice.  I ll go slow and steady.

The knob was no problem,   :D

I'm sure mono casts better, which is great when you're out in a field. But fishing with braid is always a better experience.

*Just my opinion.
