i needed the courage of 20 pitbulls to attempt this.but its very simple for most.
this is the penn 975ld,tutorial has been done by alan.
im going to attempt to grind the drag cover down so as the drag plate sides thru
without touching,about 1/4"all round.
1,vice, drill,stone,power locked on
2,drag cover feels a bit flimsy,need to be gentle(pitbull)slide over
grind stone,dont touch the sides(pitbull) NOW grind zz zzz zzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzz
3,ok nothing to it,whats that smell.my fingers and knuckles testing the rpm.
4,so onward i went and success.
no binding,good freespool now with the level wind still connected and can cast enough
for most situations.

Nice idea for a mod Wallace! Had a chance to test it yet?

You're right though, anything really "good" or rare is a difficult decision to cut into it....

hi taily
used it last sunday,got 3 fish,1/2 doz;mutton birds,little beauties can dive 30ft
after my bait
1 decent sambo,no worries,i had good freespool.
i may still get rid of the level wind,
still think its a better reel without,but thats just me.
