Hi every one, I have this Ambassadeur 7000 reel, it does not have a one way clutch bearing in the handle shaft shaft, but I think it has a main gear that was meant for the syncro.
inside the under gear washer, there is some small diviates, that the two flexibal peices of metal, under the main gear, that caurses the drag to click click constantle when the fish is pulling on the line.
I read the tutorial the Big Tim place on the 7000, but could not get any pictures to come up, can some one point me towards the detailed pictures, or post some on here, so I can get more idea, how it should operate,  just hope I have`nt confused you all with my explanation. cheers Don.

Hi Don,

You did a good job of confusing me!

Reels with a synchronized levelwind will drive the levelwind off the spool from gears on the non handle side.  The lev lwind will move whenever the spool rotates.  If the levelwind is driven off the main shaft on the handle side, the levelwind only moves when the handle turns.  Should be easy enough to figure out which you have.

ABU schematics can be found at this site from the current owner of ABU products. It may not be the same flavor as yours, but  they do have a 7000 schematic

And here is a servicing tutorial with photos:

Hi Don,

It probably has a dog anti-reverse instead of the one-way roller bearing.  The dog does not have a spring but there are thin pieces of metal on both sides of the dog to make it grab the ratchet.  They are notorious for getting clogged or bent and not working but it's an easy fix.

It is supposed to click when drag is pulled or the reel is cranked against a slipping drag.  That makes it cost more.

Many of these Ambassadeurs have a line out clicker in the maingear.  Pressed flat spring steel washer with tabs in the maingear with corresponding "dimples" in the top drag washer.
Specialist Daiwa reel service, including Magseal, MQ series body plates, and every other "improvement" that Daiwa Marketing (sorry... I meant Engineering) Dept comes up with!

Don just sent sent a text saying his modem has dropped out and he will reply when he gets back on-line.

It can't be too difficult - a lot of people do it.

I had a chance to sell this reel, but the chap,  I, could not work out why it was clicking when we were taking line, I have the same market this Saturday, so keep fingers x that he comes back. thanks again, cheers Don.
