Around 4 years ago I was exploring the attic in our 2 story home in the mountains.

Noticed a void area that was inaccessible.  Figured out that it was where the front of the South roof slopes down, along with another area above our entrance "mudroom".

From my upstairs inside reel shop room there was a small walk-in closet.  I cut out a doorway to find 2X8 rafters, a 35' X 6' area that could be made into a long, skinny storage room.  It had a steep pitch on one side, but was walkable.  Found another 10' X 11' room off of that long area.

Cleaned everything up, added 3/4" plywood flooring, insulation on the walls and top, paneled the sides and top with 9/16" rough exterior ply, installed 3 armored light fixtures, threw in some left-over new carpet remnants we had from the initial remodel.

This was not fancy carpenter work — just a rough fit quick 2-day job to make the area secure, clean, and useful.

We used this as a storage place for extra beds, lamps, China, material for sewing, and other things including a Lot of reel & tackle stuff over the last few years.

But it got too cluttered with stuff I would never need.

So I spent two days pulling everything out, reorganizing it, making half a trailer-load for the dump, and getting our luggage and other things more accessible.

62 crates of reels, 21 crates of ABU parts, and a lot of other stuff is now much more accessible and I discovered a lot of things that I had forgotten about and just stashed away.

Old fishing licenses from the 20's & 30's, lots of patches, about 200 lbs. of manufacturer reel shop manuals, and much more.

We call this the "bat-cave".

Found a new in plastic bag Gold Daiwa SS Tournament 1600, which is correct for your reel.

Will keep looking for a 1300.

Pulled out a new 5001, new 2001, and a good used 1401.  They are all completes.

On the 1001 & 1202, I have some —- but not enough to sell individually since I have more frames and reels ready to build than I have spools.

I will send what I have along to you.

Fred, do you have any old Penn advertising tin signs, countertop mats, banners, or posters?

Thanks,

Steve

Not really, Steve —-

Anything I might have are hanging in the shops, and they are modern reproductions.

Did find yesterday (6) Penn Level Wind Reels NIB's — (2) 9M, (2) 209M, (2) 309M, and a bunch of loose Squidders.

Hi Quang —-

Pulled out a DQ 5001, 1401, 2001 —- all metals.  The 5001 does't come with the top drag washers & drag knob.  But I pulled out new ones to add to the spool for you, just in case.

Found the Daiwa Gold SS Tournament in 1600 size.  Still looking for a 1300.  There are about 500 new Daiwa spools in (2) large tubs —- metal & graphite, plus maybe another 150 in various loose boxes.  Will keep looking, and will send these spools out with your reels.

Good morning, Ted —-

The Penn 114HL (high-speed, light) & the old Penn 80 with the butterscotch spool are on their way to you.  Both work perfectly with no issues.

Thank You for all you do for our members!
