Penn senator 117 bridge

Hey there! I bought a used 117 awhile ago and I was servicing the eccentric lever and while taking apart this popped off the bridge. It looks like it sheered off or was jb welded. Is this a normal bridge?

Type in
Mystic Reel Parts on the Google search line
Then select Conventional Reels

This should bring up a list of Penn Conventional reels in alpha numeric order and a drop down list on the right side of the page
Select Senator
You'll see a list of all generations of Senator reels
Select Order Parts to the left of 117L
This will bring up a parts list, reel specs and the choice to download or print a schematic
Bridge will be near the top of the list
Click on far left tab of that part to see a picture even if it says out of stock

I'm going to go check on it but wanted you to know how to do so.

I'm back. The bridge is temporarily out of stock but there is a picture of a  brass bridge with sleeve. The small crescent piece is not a part of the bridge. Maybe a shield someone added to cover the opening under the gear between the plate and bridge.

One more edit. Don't get confused by "117L" that is done to indicate an aluminum spool is available. It's still your reel.  "117L-LH" would indicate aluminum spool,  left hand crank.

I noticed that your bridge appears to be stainless steel while the Mystic part is brass. I don't know enough about BIG Senators to say whether yours is aftermarket or not but I suspect it is which would explain the added piece. Keep checking the recent posts list I'm sure someone will come along with an explanation.

Show pictures of the rest of your reel, in pieces or not, there may be more peculiarities that will interest folks.

That's prolly an old one, and is chrome over brass. That sliver is a gear shield to mate the gap to the plate; note the radius on it. I have the same on my gen 1 14/0.

Ok that's good to know. Would I be ok without it or should I buy the newer bridge?

Interesting. Never even heard of that on a Penn. I've seen those shields on other reels, mostly lever-drags, except an Accurate Jigmaster upgrade, but they are always attached to the gear-side plate.

It will work fine without it.
