I won the 1st photo contest 10 years ago this month! Thanks Christina (I think) for drawing my number out of the hat.
I was a newbie member of the board at that time. Enjoyed the forum and winning a Penn 99 so much I decided to sign up for one of the SoA  long range trips. That 2015 trip was to Los Benitos and incredible YT fishing. Fast forward 10 years and about 25 fishing trips with AT and company, with 3 more trips scheduled this year. Putting a dent in my daughters inheritance!
Indirectly, that might be the most expensive free Penn 99 in history!
But I wouldn't exchange the shared experiences for anything. And, being from the East Coast, it totally changed my opinion of CA and the entire West Coast.
I quickly found out that most CA women are good looking and the guys are mostly ugly! But they are pretty good fishermen.
The 99 is still in the same pristine condition it was when I won it 10 years ago. Never been fished. I should probably donate it back to the forum for a future photo contest or something similar. Unless someone has a better idea? I'd really hate for it to become a $10 yard sale item after I kick the bucket.

Sounds about right. Like a free puppy.

I came here in 2020 for advice on a spinner. This forum changed me so much I don't even really fish spinners anymore.
Any machine is a smoke machine if you use it wrong enough.

I realy enjoy putting up with your BS Mike.
Hi, my name is Lee and I have a fishing gear problem.

I have all of the answers, yup, no, maybe.

It's NOT BS, Gnome! Those are Words of Wisdom.
And I rest my case on ugly West Coasters.

More like a free pregnant kitty, Jason

I came here to get advice on repairing a couple of 4/0 Senators and a 209 pier reel/rod combo my Mom got me for my 10th birthday. Almost 66 years ago. With S&H green stamps! Now they are all on the shelf and I only fish two speeds.

Dominick

I just looked in the mirror.  You are wrong.  Dominick
Leave the gun.  Take the cannolis.

There are two things I don't like about fishing.  Getting up early in the morning and boats.  The rest of it is fun.

Jimmer

I'll never forget your birthday quote ' I done had me three turkey samiches already" at about 6am on the way to breakfast.   - Jimmer  -   Looking forward to the ten day
