Hi,
Recenlty I got a present Abu Garcia rcn-5600 record. This is my 1st abu record. I am used to abu 4600c4.
1. The thing is the cast control for the 5600 record even you have tightened it max when you free spool it still loose as compared to c4. Is this by design? Hope anyone can give some light on this.

2. What is the minimum lure weight for this? I have checked on the box there isn't any guide on this.

3.Quite dissappointed with shallow spool wish it had deep spool so i can reel in 40lb to 50lb braid to use it for heavy cover. (For Giant snakedhead fish).

Appreciate much any members could help me on this. Thank you.

The spool on the Record is different from the C3/C4.  The way it works; there is an anti-reverse bearing located within the spool.  It stops the spool from turning forward on the retrieve.  The other bearings, located in the head plate and tail plate, are those that are used for casting.  The internal AR bearing stops, making the spool and spool shaft turn on the end bearings.  Keep in mind, this reel, while similar, functions more like a classic 5500/5600 in that it uses a spool shaft like the classics and not an axle like newer variants.  The minimum weight on that reel should be around 1/4-3/8 or so.  Unfortunately, you can't use a more traditional C3/C4 spool on that unless you replace the head plate bearing with a bushing and run an axle clip and bushing in the tail plate.

shallow spool?

I have the Record 60 and I wouldnt call that a shallow spool, just beveled to the center but seems to have the same line capacity that similar sized abu reels

The Record 60 came in two variants, the standard with the shallow whiffle spool, and the HC (high capacity) which is what yours looks to be.  The Record 40 and 50 only came with the whiffle spool.

I didnt knew that, it kinda doesnt make sense (to me) since the Record model is a reinforced model (at least compared to the classic c4, c5 ) so, what would be the purpose of having a shallow spool for light line on a stronger reel?

Flipping to bass in cover. You don't need but 30 yds of line.

Lower inertia for casting distance or even throwing lighter lures.  While the spool itself isn't much lighter than the deeper spool, it does hold less line which means less mass on the spool and faster startup.  The shallow spool is more conducive to bass fishing or throwing hardware for salmon and steelhead, but for beach fishing or deep jigging, the deeper spool is better.

Yours is Record 60. Mine is Record 5600.
