Best Glue to Reattach Emblem on a 2081A?

I tried the hot glue in a rod tip repair kit to reattach the emblem and it didn't work. Any suggestions?

I use Gorilla Glue along with a plastic clamp for about 10 minutes.  Best, Fred

Thanks Fred. I found some Gorilla Glue in the laundry room that had hardened and wouldn't come out of the bottle. Will buy some more this week. I have an older Ugly Stik 8' Catfish rod to pair with this reel and I'm giving the combo to a friend.

Since I always have two part epoxy around I opt for that over super glues (and I think Gorilla makes the best super glue). Epoxy seems to tolerate abuse much better, at least for me it does anyway.

I za been using rapid stick 8406 Cyanoacrylate, they use it for O rings in high pressure pumps, I generaly place a bit of pressure on it for a couple of hours, I must admit, I dont place any movement against it till next day if possible, cheers Don.

I discovered shoe goo years ago,never used it on shoes yet. It's waterproof,clear,& I used it to glue pvc conduit in my jon boat 20 years ago to route the wiring it's still intact.Good stuff !

Cyanoacrylate super glue has the shortest life expectancy.  However, it has the advantage of absorbing into baking powder (or another powder) and creating a hard concrete-like structure that can be sanded.  For that application you want a super glue with the lowest viscosity rather one that already has a thickener.

Just for my own knowledge - what is the life expectancy of super glue/cyanoacrylate ?  Are the other options a lot better or just a little bit better.  I've always just used store brand super glue...

I also use automotive emblem adhesive by 3M.

Water, heat, and fuel resistant.  Not too many vehicle emblems fall off.

Any auto parts store.

Whatever adhesive or tape I use, I clean the surfaces with ISO-alcohol and it seems to help.

Nice lookin Sea Wonder.  Love those old Shakespeares.
You have a good FW, R/L hand retrieve 1980 GS Daiwa Chester? Check the for sale section...

Cyanoacrylate does not have very good resistance to polar solvents, including plain old water.  Resistance to non-polar solvents like oil is OK.  Resistance to UV degradation is OK, but not great..

Another vote for 3 M contact cement.  Water proof and you can remove the decals when you want to repaint with a knife .

I use Epoxy on everything that needs glued back together.
Its a once and done.
