Hardy Boy

You guys all take at least twice what you need ......and you all know what you actually need ... I guess that's the fun.

I try to optimize down to the individual hook when going to Cedros and get everything in a single 3700 box. Neither space or weight are at a premium on a 10 day trip. I go with 8 rods because that's how many rod spots I'm allocated. I can keep more up top in a milk crate with rod holders... but I'm not as limber as I was a few years ago and don't want to have to go up top to get my extra stuff. On the Excel I had a milk crate with 10 rod holders on the main deck and let others put extra rods in it. The SoA doesn't have that extra space.

Cedros is another thing, I go with my lightest reels that can do 50#, only a few weights I leave on the island and minimum number of plugs, jigs and hooks.

Every trip is different and I like to fish slow pitch whjen conditions are right and that adds 2 rods. One 80/100# is sufficient, I use 60# often and  always have a 40#.  I prefer to fish 30# over 40# but more often than not it is not a good idea.
Hi, my name is Lee and I have a fishing gear problem.

I have all of the answers, yup, no, maybe.

Jigging rigs might be good. The fish have all been on the bottom due to the hot water.

It sounds like the fuel surcharge is going to be around $500.

I topped off my truck Tuesday, 22 gallons just short of $150.00 @ 6.36 a gallon.  Diesel should never be $2.50 a gallon more than regular gas.  Over $2.00 a gallon more 20 miles south of KF @ $8.50 a gallon.   I filled my axillary tank in September at less than $5.50 a gallon but it takes 60 gallons.

11 days until we board.  Do you know where your gear is?

Just went through my irons and jigs.  Pared it down to a manageable tonnage.  Now time to get hooks situated and double check my trollers.

It may not be very productive,
but it's sure going to be interesting!

He never takes his gear out of his car unless he is loading it on a boat.
