i'm restoring a langley spinflo 820 and i noticed that the rubber stop for the bail is missing. any creative way to fix this? also is my drag wash messed up? looks like it's made out of nylon.

For the rubber stop, I've used hole punches made of rubber or leather epoxied over the typical rubber stopper's hole.  For the nylon drag washer, you can either cut your own from nylon sheets or look online for a suitable substitute.

I have a material similar to nylon rated up to 600 degrees used for electronics.  I acquired the material from Dell's labs that was being scraped. I cut my own washers and it's never let me down.

ty! do you completely remove the original drag and find another one with the same thickness?

I sometimes use an appropriate size automotive pull through rubber bumber and glue it on/in and if I can't one of those that works I do as jt said and make one with the right size leather punch and glue it on. I prefer the pull through rubber bumpers, though.

I'm confused regarding the drag washer issue. The spool drag portion is too
dirty to be able to tell what the problem might be? Have you removed the retaining ring and looked at the drag assembly parts? The recesses in the metal washer are to hold drag knob in place when set and keep it from rotating.

There is quite a bit of discussion about the SpinFlo 820 over here. https://alantani.com/index.php/topic,37543.0.html
Love those open face spinning reels! (Especially ABU & ABU/Zebco Cardinals)
