Hi members.

I am looking for a pinion gear for my Daiwa Saltist 50H. I went out fishing a few weeks ago on the rocks testing the waters to see if the cob arrived yet, after the 4th cast I got stuck wich was inevitable only to have my spool come loose under tention as I was trying to get unstuck. After this happened I went back home, stripped the reel, investigate what happened only to find that the pinion gear stripped. I am posting here in hopes to possibly find a good pinion gear for my reel as I have been searching all over localy and everyone just keeps saying unfortunately the parts is discontinued amd they cant help me. Please let me know if there is someone out there that might be able to help with a gear. This reel was a gift from my Dad and I would like to fix it up again if possible.

Welcome to the forum!  Hopefully somewhere here has the parts to get Dad's reel working again. - john

Assuming it's the older 50H with the holes in the frame crossbar?

Part number is E61-1301.

These guys show 7 in stock:

I'd consider swapping out the drive gear at the same time.

What boon said. If the pinion is stripped the main is probably bad too. And it's generally recommended to replace both at the same time anyway.

Good luck!

The gear is not stripped on the teeth side. It got damage on the spool side. It git damaged inside the rectangular hole on the brass gear

Hopefully I will get tbe part soon. I have been talking to some people I know to try and order the part for me, as I am not able to order it from where I am. The websites only does shipping inside the US and I am from South Africa.

JasonGotaProblem

If you do manage, that's all the more reason to also get the main. I doubt it'll cost much compared to the hassle+shipping. Would suck horribly to go thru all this and get your pinion and the reel doesn't work right.

They wear together. If you replace the pinion you want to replace the main too.

Yep it's not so much about damage as it is matching wear. Although replacing one is probably largely fine, if not optimal.

Just an update on this subject. It seems that I wont be able to get this part at this time. I can not buy it from where I am in South Africa(I have to ship it to a US address) and then to ship it to South Africa is going to be extremely expensive. I can buy a brand new Diawa Sealine SL50SH for the price of shipping alone and still have change left. So for now atleast it is not an option. Thank you for the help and guidance from the community, it is much appreciated.

Sounds like this reel, with all its history, is headed for an honored spot on the shelf.
