349 gear question

I just measured my washers and it appearers that my 349s are all 349Hs....now I have to turn one into a 349

Same boat I was in.  Now why would we want a slower 349?  For myself, other than curiosity, I can't think of another reason.

Measuring my Penn 349 washing dimensions, they do match the size of the Penn 349H reel.
Did find a great inch/mm Conversion Chart during the process:

I'm not sure about the 349 main gears listed on ebay.  They're pricey and if the main gear you order isn't the correct one (for example, if it turns out to be a 349H main gear), then what?
