Any members ever seen this RuMer model before?
 Any info appreciated.

RuMer 46 spin reel with half bail.

Possibly a very early  RuMer spin reel. 1946??

I thought a model 48 was earliest, but...

I've never seen one like this before.

Alloy skirted spool with three prong front drag capstan.

Removable solid crank arm with typical Ru knob.

Looks to have had decals at one time and possibly a green paint scheme.

Unique anti reverse switch I haven't seen before, using a push/ pull shaft with double knurled knobs.

Manual half bail works smoothly every time.

I haven't tore into her, yet, so I don't know about internals, but very smooth.

This old one has had a very busy and full life from the looks of her, but I'm gonna give her a new lease, real soon.

As stated, any info on this particular model, much appreciated!

Does it have an anti-reverse? According to Ben there was a Ru-Mer 46 prototype that came out in 1945. It didn't have an A/R. In 1946 they came out with the RU-Mer 46 in black, gray, & kaki green. This one has a push button type A/R and a wood handle knob. Both have the round bodies. From the photos it appears to have been colored, either gray or the green, so if it has the A/R most likely someone replaced the handle with one from a newer model/style reel.

Nice find, either way, the 46s are tough to come by!  8)
Love those open face spinning reels! (Especially ABU & ABU/Zebco Cardinals)

Ok. Great info. The crank looks original to the reel, but being 80 years old, who knows.

Would anyone have any photos of the RuMer 46 from factory? I would love to see some, as I can find nothing.

Thanks for reply!

On another note, it makes me scratch my head why some French reels are like this one, basic in construction,  and others are like the Helion, so overengineered, it's crazy.

I guess it's basically a Chevy vs. Cadillac scenario. How much money can one afford?

Given the handle knob is attached with a threaded bolt I would imagine that the original wood knob was replaced at some point with a more recent plastic knob, or maybe even a complete handle/knob combo.

Here a RU Super 48, circa 1948, with a crank handle & knob similar to your 46, although the knob has been modified a little, probably to accommodate a replacement bolt.

Nice.

Thanks for that.

So, she may have a 48 model crank and knob.
Oh well, it fits good, but that's where the similarities end.

This one is so different than later Ru's.

Appreciate the replies, man!
