Abu Garcia 5600C5 Mag-X reassembly problems

Good evening, this is my first post.  I hope someone can help me.  I bought a new in box 5600C5 Mag-X from a collector and removed the handle side and spool to confirm the internal condition.  When I replaced the spool and handle side, the thumb bar did not work, and when I turn the handle I feel something catching.  After several disassemblies and reassemblies, I removed the opposite side to inspect it.  When I tried to reassemble that side, the mag slide does not work.  I need help.  If anyone has any advice or perhaps a tutorial or even a short reassembly video clip, I would be very grateful.  Thanks in advance for any help.

Hold the thumb bar in its normal position then assemble the side plate making sure the pin on the thumb bar lines up.

IIRC you need to turn the mags full, offer the sideplate and turn mags off.

The info I gave is BACKWARDS.

Turn the mags full OFF, then offer the sideplate and align the screwholes, then turn the mags full on....you will feel it click and drop into place. replace screws at that point.

The sliding mag control on these Ambassadeurs was designed weird as the control only moves the magnets during the first 4-5 "clicks" from off,....making all the rest of the slider movement moot. I doubt you could measure the movement past the 4 clicks that would have a meaningful affect.
