I'm trying to figure out which to sell which to keep.

These are for trolling and chunking off NJ. So YFT, BigEye, and of course BFT.
The weight diff is 75 ounces vs 67. I'm leaning towards keeping the lighter reel(s),

Is there much/any difference? I've heard that build quality is declining.

So I have one 50 VISW and the two 50 VSW reels and have acquired to two Talica 25. Two of these reels should be resold to someone who is going to use them.

this is going to be immensely unhelpful.

not sure how your fishery is, or how big the fish are.  i'm guessing that you are downsizing to the talica reels because your tuna are smaller.  since you have two older vsw's, maybe keep them as a matched set.  i don't think it would make much difference.

i would normally not recommend the talicas at all.  the first generation talica reels had a single drag system, some of them would pop out of low gear, and i have seen a couple of gear failures.  also, i think that the cost of the talicas are more than the reels are worth.  the second generation talica reels are a double drag system, but the cost is still high.  i have three of these second generation reels in the garage right now that are hopping out of low gear.  i ordered new shifter springs, and we'll see if that takes care of the problem.

so, if you want to sell two reels, i would have recommended selling the talicas.   :-\

Thanks Alan.

Seeing that both Talicas are brand new I'll probably just hold onto the Internationals and use the Talicas intermittently. My decision to get Shimano's was made (right or wrong) based on weight.

Most of my tuna are under 100.

One other point.  Penn tends to support their products far longer than Shimano does.  I am not sure if this will continue with Penn's  current owners though.
Hi, my name is Lee and I have a fishing gear problem.

I have all of the answers, yup, no, maybe.

Well thats a whole different matter. Ive been sending reels to 3028 W Hunting Park ave for decades. They do top notch work. BUT has that worked for them? The fact that my Internationals can get parts and service VS ......Shimano getting 50% off a new one we dont work on them anymore.

Thats a positive for me but has it worked for Penn? They sold out to what Pure Fishing and who knows what can happen. Most my offshore conventionals are Penn. I love penn. I live in Penn. They sponsor my fishing club. But their spinning reels really got left behind by BaitRunners/Thunnus/Saragosa/Stellas/TwinPower. Most anglers have told me they think the Talica's are an upgrade. I guess I'll be finding out!! At half the weight, and my age, thats a big plus.
