2062 EF vs EG - What a difference a year makes!

Hey all,

The donor reel came in from Fred (beyond generous) and I was surpised at the all the little differences between a 1964 and 1965 Shakespeare 2062 just in one little assembly (see first pic). It is almost like one of those spot the differences games. Also wondering what this black material on inside of faceplate is and is for? (next two pics)?

Should have mentioned 2 versus 1 oil ports and threaded vs unthreaded main shafts as other differences.

How cool is that? I have always differentiated between early production (pre 1970ish) vs late production, but it's neat to see the evolution.
