Curado 300DSV Main Gear

I recently took apart my old Curado 300DSV and noticed the main gear had... staining? On it from I assume the drag washers.

Does this affect the reel in any way?  If so how would I go about cleaning it off?  I already soaked in Simple Green, a 50/50 mix of WD40 and mineral spirits, and polished with a brass polish.
