Hi all,

I just bought a squall II 15SDCS for surf fishing, and was curious about new Penns.  The last few new reels I've bought have been cheap chinese reels (piscifun, kastking) and they require opening up and cleaning the crap factory lube and re greasing and oiling (at least they used to).  Will I need to do that with a Chinese built Penn?  Also, the squall does not have a backup dog system, what is the best way to maintain anti reverse bearings.

Thanks

All my reels (new or used) get a pre-fish service.  Doesn't matter the brand or price point.  Paying special attention to screw holes, bearings, and reel foot screws and contact point.  My Fathoms were built in China and I found the grease inside the to be generally OK, but 1 just had grease just globbed in.  I spread it with a toothbrush and was good to go.   Bill
It may not be very productive,
but it's sure going to be interesting!
